Plastic cutting boards are often the choice for cutting food because they are lightweight and do not require special care. However, it is undeniable that cutting boards can become dirty, black, and full of scratches after repeated use. This problem not only reduces the aesthetics of the cutting board, but can also be a breeding ground for bacteria that are harmful to health.

Scratches that appear on plastic cutting boards are usually caused by using sharp knives during the process of cutting food. These scratches not only damage the surface of the cutting board, but can also trap food debris and liquids that are difficult to clean . If not cleaned properly, this trapped dirt can cause black spots and become an ideal place for bacteria to grow.

If you have a plastic cutting board that is already black and full of scratches, don't worry. There is a trick that can be applied to overcome this. An Instagram user @danirapalace once shared a trick to clean a plastic cutting board so that it is smooth again. As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @danirapalace on Monday (9/9), the kitchen ingredients in question are baking soda, lemon, and vinegar. How to use it, simply sprinkle baking soda evenly over the entire surface of the black and dirty plastic cutting board. After that, sprinkle with lemon water.

Well, don't throw away the squeezed lemon pieces right away. Squeeze them and use them to spread the lemon juice evenly on the cutting board. Do this process while rubbing so that all the ingredients are more evenly distributed and absorbed into the stain.

Next, let it sit for 30 minutes. Once done, rinse the surface of the cutting board with vinegar. Then rub it using a wire brush so that the black stains are lifted. Finally, rinse and dry the plastic cutting board. Well, the washed plastic cutting board will look shinier and smoother.
