Brilio.net - Salted squid is a favorite choice for many people because it lasts longer than fresh squid. The salting process aims to extend the shelf life of squid, while maintaining its quality so that it does not rot quickly. However, when it is about to be processed, many people complain about the excessive saltiness of salted squid. This often makes the taste of the dish less balanced if not handled properly.

In addition to the strong salty taste, the fishy smell of salted squid often still sticks, even though it has gone through a processing process. This smell can be disturbing and difficult to remove if you don't know the right way. In fact, for some people, the salty taste and fishy aroma can reduce appetite, even though squid is known as a delicious cooking ingredient.

Fortunately, there are some simple tricks to reduce the excessive saltiness and fishy smell of salted squid. One effective way is to clean the salted squid thoroughly. An Instagram user @chef_budi_tian once shared a simple trick in cleaning squid so that the salt content is reduced and not fishy. In addition, this cleaning process also makes the squid more tender when processed.

As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @chef_budi_tian on Tuesday (7/1), the first thing to do is rinse the squid with plain water first, then drain. If so, add salt and pour hot water into the container containing the salted squid. Stir and soak the salted squid for 15 minutes. Well, this soaking process makes the salted squid more tender and reduces excess salt content.
