Brilio.net - Papaya leaves are a vegetable that is loved by many people and can be processed into various dishes such as raw vegetables, stir-fries, and soup dishes. In addition to being delicious, papaya leaves are also rich in nutrients, including vitamin E which functions as a free radical scavenger. However, the bitter taste of papaya leaves often makes people reluctant to consume them. In fact, if processed properly, papaya leaves can be a delicious dish.

The bitter taste of papaya leaves can be removed by boiling them using clay. Unfortunately, clay is now hard to find and quite expensive. Therefore, many people are looking for other ways to remove the bitter taste. One way shared by YouTube user Aldisya channel is to use ingredients that are easy to find in the kitchen, namely cooking oil, salt, and tamarind. How to do it?

First, separate the papaya leaves from the stem. Then wash them under running water until they are free from dust and dirt. Drain.

In addition, boil the water for a few minutes until it boils. When it boils, pour in enough cooking oil, 1 tbsp of salt, and 3 pieces of asam gelugur. Stir until all ingredients are evenly mixed.

"Using this oil will make the papaya leaves soft quickly and stay green. Salt and gelugur acid will make the bitterness disappear," he said as quoted by BrilioFood from the YouTube Aldisya channel, Tuesday (22/10).

When the boiled water is ready, add the papaya leaves that have been washed clean. Press using a spatula so that all parts of the papaya leaves are completely submerged.

"Just boil it until the papaya leaves become soft," he said.

Immediately turn off the stove and drain when the papaya leaves are soft. Do not serve immediately, rinse the boiled papaya leaves under running water first. This aims to stop the cooking process of the papaya leaves.
