Brilio.net - Frying food using oil can indeed make the texture crispier. However, this process also has its own impact, namely the oil becomes dirty and cloudy. Usually the remaining food that comes off, such as flour, crumbs, or spices can fade and make the oil dirty.

If the cooking oil has been used repeatedly, it should be thrown away. However, if it has only been used once, throwing it away is certainly a shame. Especially if the condition of the cooking oil is actually still quite good.

To overcome this, some people usually use special tricks. So this cooking oil will be cleaned with certain ingredients. Flour is one of them. Well, this flour will be dissolved with water and fried in the dirty oil. Later, the flour will clump and make the dirt on the oil stick.

But besides using flour solution, you can use another method that is no less practical to clean dirty cooking oil so that it is clear again. This method was once used by the owner of the Rumah Ummii YouTube account. Through one of the videos uploaded, this netizen admitted to only using a few simple tools in the kitchen.

As reported by BrilioFood from YouTube Rumah Ummii on Thursday (5/9), the tool in question is an oil filter. However, so that fine dirt can also be filtered, he also relies on tissue to line the filter. So, the dirty oil will be filtered to be clearer and cleaner.

The method is quite easy. First, let the oil cool down first. Once done, prepare a container and place a strainer on top. Then line the top of the strainer with a piece of tissue that has been folded until it is smaller in size.

Next, immediately pour the cooking oil into the top of the filter that has been lined with tissue. This process will help separate the remaining fine dirt in the oil. That way, the oil becomes even cleaner and ready to be used for frying other foods.

Well, this used cooking oil can be used if it is still in good condition. When the cooking oil has changed color to dark brown or even black, it is better to throw it away immediately. Other characteristics of unusable cooking oil are the appearance of a rancid aroma, lots of foam, and a thick texture.

It is better to avoid using cooking oil if its condition is no longer suitable like that. Reported from researchgate.net, oil that is heated repeatedly can produce dangerous compounds such as aldehydes and acrylamides, which are known to be potential carcinogens (cancer-causing). In addition, consuming food fried with used oil repeatedly can cause digestive disorders, such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, due to contamination of spoiled food residue.
