Brilio.net - A freezer full of frost can be a problem at home. Although it seems trivial, the accumulation of frost can reduce storage capacity, interfere with cooling efficiency, and increase energy consumption. As a result, stored food may not last long and electricity bills will increase.
Frost buildup in the freezer occurs when water vapor in the air freezes and sticks to the freezer walls. In addition to reducing storage space, a thick layer of frost can also inhibit the circulation of cold air, causing the food to freeze unevenly. This can cause some foods to spoil quickly or not freeze at all.
Given this, the frost that has accumulated in the refrigerator must be cleaned immediately. Unfortunately, this tends to take time. Therefore, many people then use various tricks, such as using a fan or even pouring hot water on the freezer.
But there is another way that is no less effective in making frost melt quickly. An Instagram user @andredegee once shared it through one of the videos uploaded. He claimed to be able to melt very thick frost in less than 1 hour.
As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @andredegee on Friday (11/22), the method used is to use warm water. So, boil the water first in a pan. It doesn't need to be hot, just lukewarm. After that, transfer it to a spray bottle.
Next, spray this warm water on each side of the frost that sticks to the freezer wall. Well, this warm water can immediately melt the frost. If the frost that sticks to the freezer wall has melted, then take the chunks of frost using your hands.
Spray the entire freezer evenly. After that, remove any chunks of frost that fall off and throw them away. Now, the freezer that is clean from frost can be wiped using a dry cloth. After that, you can rearrange the food that you want to store in the freezer.
Having been viewed more than 994 thousand times, this video about the trick to melt frost has immediately caught the attention of netizens. Many other Instagram users then gave direct responses through the comments column. Most even shared other suggestions for cleaning frost.
"If I press the button near the freezer, I set it to stop, unplug the refrigerator cable, then turn on the fan, prepare a bucket to catch the frost, set the time, and it's done," said Instagram user @nyrulih_fani.
"I'm the one who can't wait to do this and don't want to wait for it to melt on its own," said Instagram @_lestari.tari.
"The team lined the top and bottom with plastic so we just had to make it smaller while we cleaned the parts, then just pull the plastic and it would come off by itself," wrote the Instagram account @superpower3350.
