Brilio.net - Chicken opor is one of the typical Indonesian foods that is popular among various groups. It's so delicious, this dish is usually served during special moments such as Eid. Just serve it with pieces of rice cake or rice.
The main ingredients for making chicken opor are coconut milk, shallots, garlic, galangal, ginger, turmeric and bay leaves. All the spices are then ground and sauted until fragrant. After that, just put the chicken pieces into it.
When the chicken opor is starting to cook, add coconut milk to make the sauce thick and taste more delicious. Even though it looks easy, in fact quite a few people fail when making opor. One of the triggers for this failure was an inappropriate spice mix.
As experienced by TikTok user @riswanahdi5. Through her upload, this woman shared the moment she cooked chicken opor to be served during Eid al-Adha. Unfortunately, the resulting opor did not meet expectations.

Reported by BrilioFood from TikTok @riswanahdi5 on Wednesday (10/7), the account owner admitted that he deliberately made chicken opor at night to be served the next day. Unfortunately, when I tasted it, the chicken opor sauce actually tasted sour. Apparently, the coconut milk used was stale.
"It turns out the coconut milk was stale," he said.

Because he was afraid that his cooking could harm his family, he immediately made the opor sauce he cooked. Meanwhile, the chicken pieces are filtered and rinsed several times using clean water so that the bacteria and sour taste from the stale coconut milk disappear.

The chicken, which feels clean, is then cooked again with minimal spices. In the video, the video owner is seen grinding shallots, garlic, and so on. After that, the ground spices are immediately sauteed with the addition of bay leaves, lemongrass and lime leaves.

Once it was fragrant and the fine spices were perfectly cooked, he immediately added the chicken pieces that had been washed several times. So that it doesn't fail again, he chose to add instant coconut milk and enough water. As a result, the chicken opor is ready and tastes delicious when tasted.
"Thank God, our family will eat Eid chicken opor tomorrow," said the owner of the video.
