Brilio.net/en - Continuing the recent post about warungs in Seminyak, this time we go a little away but still around Seminyak area. Warung is Indonesian style for canteen, which adapted to these restaurants. These upgraded warungs are my recommendation if youre around Kerobokan area and looking for unique and great local food.
1.Pili-Pili Warung

Serving Indonesian food, Pili-Pili is the only air-conditioned warung found around, but still has an outdoor area in front to chill. The small warung is clean and decorated in white and red and serves fresh, spicy and tasty Indonesian food. My recommendation is the terong balado (Padang style cooked eggplant) and bakwan jagung (corn fritter). Find Pili-Pili in Jl. Mertanadi No. 63 with some green plants covering its faade.
2.Warung Jepang

This warung has Japanese food like nowhere else. They serve Japanese home cooking food like fresh and healthy sauted vegetables, salads and croquettes. Make sure you order their special Japanese brown rice before choosing the other menu, and I suggest you to come few times here to make sure you try all of their food. They give free mineral water you can get by yourself, and you can enjoy the nice outdoor seating at Jl. Merta Agung No. 22.
3.Warung Yuti

Serving mostly Italian and some Asian food, Warung Yuti is another one you must visit. The salad bar has wide range of vegetables and pasta you can choose to mix your own way. Owned by a Javanese lady named Yuti, the white washed decorated warung is located at Jl. Tangkuban Perahu No. 6 B-C, few meters before the Kerobokan traditional market near the Lio Square crossroad.
4.Bambuku

Another best Indonesian and Balinese food is served here. The colorful interior decoration with boat wood makes this small warung attractive and wouldnt be missed. Get the red rice for healthier option, some sate lilit (the Balinese style skewers) and bakwan jagung (corn fritter) to complete your dish. Warung Bambuku is located near the end of Sunset Road, close to Jl. Raya Kerobokan.
5.Nook

Located slightly out of the Seminyak radar, Nook is the newest hip warung to hang out at. Even in the hottest day, the open-air restaurant allows breeze to come from its every side to the rice field around. Serving western food a la carte, Nook also offers Balinese/Indonesian food in their buffet stall. Whatever youre having, add up some sambal matah (Balinese special raw chili condiment) to spice up your meal. Nook is located in the corner of Jl. Umalas I and Gg. Nook that you wouldnt miss by its green and white washed wooden structure.
