Brilio.net - The General Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep is back in the public spotlight. This time, the youngest son of President Joko Widodo drew criticism after joking that he would give a private jet as a gift to PSI cadres if they managed to win the Ridwan Kamil-Suswono (RIDO) pair in the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election.
Kaesang made the statement while giving direction to PSI cadres at the PSI Jakarta Kopdarwil event in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Sunday (29/9). Kaesang was previously involved in a controversy related to the use of a private jet while traveling to the United States with his wife, Erina Gudono. This sparked speculation of alleged gratification.
Responding to public attention, Kaesang even visited the KPK Supervisory Board building to ask for direction regarding the use of the private jet facility. At the PSI Jakarta Kopdarwil event, Kaesang expressed his optimism about the RIDO pair's victory in the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election. He invited all PSI cadres to fight to win Ridwan Kamil and Suswono as the new governor and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta.
"I am optimistic, very optimistic that Mr. Ridwan Kamil and Mr. Suswono will be the next governor and deputy governor of Jakarta. After expressing his optimism, Kaesang then made a controversial statement. He mentioned the prize that would be given to PSI cadres who managed to win the RIDO pair. Kaesang's statement was immediately greeted with cheers by the cadres who attended the event.
Kaesang started his joke by asking about the cadres' enthusiasm to advance Jakarta. He then mentioned about the prizes that will be given if they succeed in winning Ridwan Kamil and Suswono.
"Do you want the spirit of Jakarta to be more advanced? Yes, choose Mr. Ridwan Kamil and Mr. Suswono, are you ready? If everyone is enthusiastic to win Mr. Ridwan Kamil and Mr. Suswono, I have a gift," Kaesang continued.
Kaesang continued his joke by mentioning that the gift in question was very interesting and expensive. He then made a joke about the private jet that had previously been controversial.
"The prize is very interesting. Very expensive. This is because earlier I said the prize is expensive, the prize is luxurious, he asked for a bicycle. Because earlier I wanted to give a private jet," joked Kaesang, greeted by cheers from the audience.

Although delivered in a joking context, Kaesang's statement drew criticism from netizens. Many considered the joke inappropriate, especially considering the previous controversy over the use of private jets.
The owner of the @BangPino account on social media X who uploaded the excerpt of Kaesang's speech also gave a harsh comment on the statement of Gibran Rakabuming's younger brother. He wrote a caption that insinuated that Kaesang seemed to be mocking the people.

Netizens were also annoyed by Kaesang's behavior, which they considered cheeky. They insinuated that President Jokowi's youngest son was acting shamelessly.
