When someone mentions Cinderella, Ariel from the Little Mermaid, Aurora from the Sleeping Beauty, or Belle from the Beauty and the Beast, classic images of those Disney princesses will likely to pop into our heads, with faces and features exactly like how Disney created them. However, artist Lorna Kelleher has decided to be a little bit more rebellious, as she created different images of Disney Princesses. Apparently, she tried to make a younger look to each of those ladies. That makes sense, actually, because most of those princesses are in their 16 or 17. Here are some of them.
So excited to finally redraw Aurora; she's such a beautiful Disney Princess again, I wanted her to look younger and softer than Disney's version (is it just me that felt her face was super defined/angular for a 15/16 year old?) and also, what colour are her eyes meant to be!? In some pictures they're violet, but in others they're blue anyway, I'm still happy with how this turned out. Thanks for your comments on my Cinderella picture, I didn't realise she was such a popular princess!
Pocahontas I feel like this one so far veers most from the original drawing? I'm happy though! I really wanted her to look more Native American than the Disney version (which I feel doesn't at all?) Would have loved to give her different clothes too, but I guess that defeats the purpose of the nature of the redraws I've been doing. Maybe next year!
