Home Ministry’s General Director for Regional Autonomy Sumarsono resumes his position as Jakarta Acting Governor as Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Deputy Djarot Saiful take another campaign leave starting today until April 15.
The handover ceremony was conducted yesterday evening at around 7 p.m.. at Jakarta City Hall.
Ahok, during his speech yesterday, listed several items that should be on Sumarsono’s to-do-list while he’s in charge for a month.
“First of all, we want to push for more child-friendly public space (RPTRA), so please continue the land purchasing process,” he said. “And start planning the development of creative spaces in each district.”
He also asked Sumarsono to start planning a massive public space in TB Simatupang area, South Jakarta, using the same concept as the one in Kalijodo. Then, Sumarsono was asked to develop the sacred Mbah Priok memorial site to be a decent tourism destination.
“Please also monitor the development of Jakarta Mosque in Daan Mogot so it can be finished on time, by March 2017,” he said as he continued listing the tasks.
“Continue the recruitment process of minibus drivers so they can join Transjakarta and then give their minibuses to other regions that need them. Do the market operation to keep prices low and prevent inflation. Lastly, monitor the development of facilities for Asian Games 2018 so it can be done on time.”
Ahok also said that he’s confident that Sumarsono is up to the task.
“I know he’s a hard worker, he’ll be able to do those tasks. I’m sorry I also leave some unfinished dispositional work,” he said.
In a different occasion, Non-active Deputy Governor Djarot Saiful said similar thing.
“Pak Soni (Sumarsono) said ‘dont leave too much work, I’m here only for 1.5 months’, but he’s a hard worker,” Djarot said yesterday. “So, we leave it all to Pak Soni as the acting governor. I’ve said congratulations and good luck. His job is not to help us but to help Jakarta.”
