Brilio.net - After a whirlwind of a year that has brought plenty of international attention to Indonesian jazz pianist Joey Alexander, the 13-year-old this week has again been announced as one of the nominees for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.

Joey's album Countdown, released in September this year, has been nominated in the Best Improvised Jazz Solo category, running against more senior names such as Ravi Coltrane (In Movement), Fred Hersch (We See), Brad Mehldau (I Concentrate on You), and John Scofield (I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry).

Last year, Joey became the youngest person to be nominated throughout the Grammy's history when his album My Favorite Things, released in 2015, was included in the Best Improvised Jazz Solo category and the Best Jazz Instrumental Album category.

The album made it into the Billboard chart, sitting at the 174th spot and later reentered the chart at the 59th spot.

The 2017 Grammy Awards is set to take place on February 12, 2017.
