Brilio.net - Most people usually sue companies because their place of work commits violations that harm employees. This violation can take the form of non-compliance with regulations or not providing a safe work environment. But this woman is different. He even sued his company because he had given him a salary for 20 years without giving him any tasks.

Reporting from odditycentral, this incident occurred in France, when an employee named Laurence Van Wassenhove took a telecommunications company called Orange to court. The lawsuit is in the form of moral harassment and discrimination in the workplace.

It is known that Laurence has worked for the company since 1993. Even at that time, the company was still called France Telecom before it was taken over by Orange. Laurence's boss basically knew that he was suffering from hemiplegia (partial paralysis of the face and limbs). He had suffered from this disease since birth. Apart from that, he also suffers from epilepsy .

Knowing Laurence's condition, as a good boss, the company tried to place him in a position adapted to his medical condition. Laurence once asked to be transferred to the secretary section in the HR department. His request was approved and he worked in that position until 2002. However, it turned out that his work was not suitable for his body condition, this was confirmed by a medical report.

The company's various attempts to place him in a suitable position failed. Therefore, Orange prefers to pay his salary in full for the next 20 years, even though he does not do anything in his office.

Even though the company has tried to find a solution for its employees, Laurence is not happy with this decision. He reported the treatment of companies that did not employ him to the government and the High Authority for Combating Discrimination in France.

In 2015, a mediator was appointed by Orange to resolve the issue. However, this dispute has not returned to normal. Laurence's lawyer said that Orange actually forced his client to quit his job.

"They would rather pay him than hire him," said lawyer Laurence.

Laurence's lawyer also added that his client had filed a complaint against the company and four of his managers for moral harassment and workplace discrimination related to his health condition.

"Working for people with disabilities means having a place in society, recognition, social bonds that are created," continued lawyer Laurence. In this case, Laurence Van Wassenhove was rebuffed by being put away for 20 years in the hope that he would quit.

Local media called La Dpche reported that Orange had made every effort to ensure the woman worked in the best conditions. The company also admitted that it had considered the social situation that would occur to the woman. Although Orange planned to make the workplace more adaptable, the plan was never implemented as Laurence reportedly took frequent sick leave.
