Brilio.net/en - Do all the things in the world have the same shapes and colors as they seem, or as we perceive them to have? We dont really mean to step too deep into philosophy, but after seeing these astonishing 3D paintings, maybe it will be difficult to trust our eyes ever again.

Well, if youre interested in experiencing a slight shift in paradigm, check out these amazing artworks from UK artist Patrick Hughes.

The work, called "Superduperspective, is currently on display at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, in Hughes hometown.

When the principles of perspective are reversed and solidified into sculpted paintings something extraordinary happens; the mind is deceived into believing the impossible, that a static painting can move of its own accord, said Hughes in his own website.

Everything about these paintings is sort of puzzling. But at least we know thats not a real world, although it feels like were being sucked into it while staring at one of those pieces.

From the side, theyre definitely 3D paintings. But then you move and see them from the front; oh, maybe it's not 3D after all. But wait ... Is it concave? Or maybe convex? Are our friends really our friends? Is everyone we know are really they are? Do we even exist at this moment? What is existence, really?

Anyway, they are excellent paintings. If you're anywhere near Birmingham, UK, just drop by to see them.
