Rose could have saved Jack, after all

And cue Celine Dion.

Brilio.net/en - Titanic, which is indisputably one of the most tragic and short-lived romances in Hollywood history, is the staple for most as the classic romance movie. While the 1997 hit flick was a story not to be forgotten, it was the ending that shook so many souls. The lovers Jack and Rose are parted in the final scene, as Rose lets Jack drift into the cold arctic to his chilly death.

But wait a minute. The piece of floating door that eventually saved Roses life could surely have fit another person. Even from the first viewing as a child, I had my skeptic doubts. Perhaps its James Camerons film that made me the anti-romantic that I am today. I just had a deep-rooted fear that I would eventually have to let my one true love of several days sink to his unfortunate death.

Alas, Kate Winslet, the British starlet who played Rose in the 1997 hit, came forward and admitted that yes, there probably was some extra wiggle room on that door. In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, the starlet agreed with the TV host when he said: You let him freeze to death in the water. There was plenty of room on that raft.

Ms. Winslet replied with the words all fans have been yearning to hear for nearly two decades. I know, I know. I agree. I think he could have actually fitted on that bit of door."

To support her claim is a 2012 episode of Mythbusters, which comprehensively proved that the young lovers could have somehow squeezed onto the door and avoided tragedy. James Cameron, the director, writer and co-producer of the third highest grossing film of all time countered their claims, saying that there would be the issue of buoyancy. Mythbusters said that could easily have been fixed had the couple used the life vests and placed them under the floating raft.

At any rate, the film is no doubt such a hit because of its tragic ending. No one questioned Shakespeare on the unfortunate (and highly coincidental) death of Romeo and Juliet, so maybe we should just leave the skepticism at the door.

Maybe we too, should just let go.
