Poem written by a 10-year-old goes viral

The first two words of every sentence was given but the rest was all pure creativity and self-expression. Celia Tholozan

Brilio.net/en - Benjamin Giroux is 10 and autistic. People affected from the Aspergers syndrome like he does, are suffering of social difficulties: they learn to talk properly and have no intellectual deficit, however the way they use the language and also body language are used differently, and can be seen as clumsy.

Their overall behaviour is unusual and children affected by Aspergers syndrome often have difficulties to interact with others and find their place at school. Kids can be cruel between them, it is hard for them to understand what or who is different, even when explained. The difficulty of being socially accepted is Benjamins daily reality.

As part of a school assignment, he was asked to write a poem entitled "I Am". The first two words of every sentence was given but the rest was all pure creativity and self-expression. According to its parents, Benjamin stayed hours at the kitchens table to write, and they said they were brought to tears when finally got to read the poem.

The young boy expressed his vision of his own world through a beautiful declaration, so moving that it became viral on social networks. The poem has been posted by the National Autism Association on Facebook, and was liked already over a 10.000 times. It has also been taken over by the Anglo-Saxon medias and initiated a movement on Twitter with the hashtag #oddtoo. Feel free to share it too:
