Brilio.net/en - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) earlier this week arrested an official from the Finance Ministry's Directorate General of Taxation Handang Sukarna for allegedlyaccepting bribes worth up to US$148,500 from Rajesh Rajamohan Nair in order to minimize taxes charged to the latter's company, PT. Eka Prima.
Responding to the case, Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani wrote a note for other members of the ministry, encouraging them to continue upholding their integrity and to not let the disappointment brought about by the case affect their work.

Today we were all disappointed by the arrest of a leader in the Directorate of Taxation by the KPK in their sting operation in Jakarta. We have also previously received news of the arrest of a customs official by the police in Semarang.
I, along with everyone who have a commitment to comply to the duties and mandate to protect and manage the nation's finances with integrity, honesty, profesionalism and high dedication, feel deeply disappointed by their actions in betraying the positive values and the principles of integrity that we've long upheld.
We need to channel our disappointment by working better and harder to reach even higher achievements.
Together, we will rid the ministry from those who have defamed us and the reputation of our institution. Together, we will continue the reformation and transformation of our institution to make the Finance Ministry a clean, professional, competent, dignified, and credible institution.
Tomorrow morning, we will stand strong, stand with confidence that we are able to build a trustworthy ministry, one that the people of Indonesia can be proud of. Because I believe that most of the officials and staff in the Finance Ministry are honest individuals with high integrity. Those who are not tired of showing their love for Indonesia and faithfully contribute to build our country into a developed, just, prosperous, and dignified country.
Together we can fight corruption!
Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
People have taken to social media to express their responses to the note.
Thank you for your support, Mam Ani.. Just believe that there are more honest people than the "bad" ones. If another person were to be arrested, see the positive side of it, which means there are fewer "bad" officials...:) Keep your spirits up!" says Koswara Adisaputra on Facebook.
Thank you for your writing, SRIMULYANI Hopefully it would be a message for your officials, and the officials of the country. Hopefully you will always be in Gods protection, given health and wisdom. says Rpd S.
