Not wanting to show mainstream pictures, Junanto Herdiawan (43), tries levitation poses through camera tricks at every place he visits. The man who claimed to have visited 30 countries will then upload his levitation pictures onto his Instagram account. It is because of this he is dubbed as the Flying Traveller.
He started this strange hobby when he met with a woman in Tokyo named Natsumi Hayashi who is famously known as the "Floating Girl from Tokyo." Hayashi has a blog named yowayowacamera containing her levitation activities.
The man who was born in 16 February 1972 thinks that if the pictures taken are ordinary or common, it will be too mainstream. Inspired by Hayashi whom he met in 2012, Junanto started to apply the levitation technique with various poses.
"Everytime I go travelling to a location, I take time to do a levitation pose there. As time goes by, I started to collect lot of levitation pictures. Then, I started to share them on Instagram to inspire others," said Junanto to brilio.net, Wednesday (7/10).
His hobby of travelling and do levitation poses does not disturb his daily job as an economist at Bank Indonesia. The man who had served in Tokyo, Japan said that he always uses his off duty time to do his hobbies such as writing and creating levitation shots. "I personally go travelling in my spare time such as on weekends or when I take annual leave. I always use the opportunity to do a new levitation pose," Junanto explained.
He has visited 30 countries in Asia, Europe, America, and Australia. In 2004, various levitation poses and traveling locations he has visited are compiled in a book titled Flying Traveller. Junanto admitted that he has not visited many countries in Africa or Latin America.
As a reward for his creativity, Buzzfeed chose his Instagram account as one of the 21 most creative Instagram accounts in 2013. He has been interviewed by the foreign media for his hobby to do levitation.
