Brilio.net/en - You may know Leonardo DiCaprio from his act in the box office movies but when hes not acting, he is concerning about environmental issues. In the recent Crystal Award in World Economic Forum, DiCaprio declared his disagreement to energy companies, all from oil, gas, and coal. The award was given to him for his dedication for the environment since 1998.
DiCaprio mentioned that the use of energy had caused the climate change and the use of fossil fuel should be kept underwater. The climate change is the first step of the destruction of the earth. He suggested that we could not stay idle while those greedy coal, oil and gas companies decide the humans fate.
Sadly, the entities that supported the exploitation denied and tried to cover the facts of the changing climate. Enough is enough. You know better. The world knows better. History will place the blame for this devastation squarely at their feet.
In an effort to save earth, DiCaprio donated USD 15 million through his organization, Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, to support the act of environment protection and asked for the fossil fuel to be stopped because it cause a dependency to natural sources. Some of the fund is used to protect 6.5 million acres of the rainforest in Sumatra, Indonesia, from the invasive and destructive practices caused by palm oil industry.
The Sumatran forest had been burnt for months and caused a hazy gas pollution that damaged many cities and villages, rainforests, caused death and diseases and billions of rupiah loss. The case is still ongoing and the upcoming dry season is becoming a big concern for civilians, many parties and the forest guards.
There are actions and steps to be made, and clearly DiCaprio wanted to be the one who works on it. He received this year award along with Yao Chen, a Chinese actress who raised public awareness of the refugee; will.i.am, musician and member of Black Eyed Peas who tries to keep young underprivileged young people in education and out of trouble through his i.am angel Foundation; and Olafur Eliasson, an artist who led in creating inclusive communities.
