Twelve years after Soviet-Union sent the first artificial Earth satellite and man-made object Sputnik 1 into earth-orbit in 1957, NASA's Apollo project finally successfully land Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin as the first men to land on the moon and return safely to the Earth.
One of the humanity's greatest accomplishments is now turned into an amazingshort filmby motion designer ChristianStangltitled"Lunar", where he gathers and uses thousands original NASAphotographs, taken from the Astronauts during the Apollo Missions.
Assisted by his brother composer WolfgangStangl, Christian generated the animated collage using multiple techniques to bring the stills to life. It took 18 months for him to assemble the photos, create wider panoramic that is possible to be animated and also find the pictures captured in sequence for longer animations. But, none of processes goes in vain as we can see how gorgeous his film is.
