The masses were seen holding a demonstration of Indonesian Emergency in front of the DPR RI building, Jakarta, on Thursday (22/8). This protest was a response to the DPR Legislative Body together with the government agreeing to the Revision of the Pilkada Law (RUU) to be brought to a plenary session.
The masses believe that the results of this meeting are contrary to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK). As is known, out of 9 factions, only PDIP stated that it rejected the bill being brought to the plenary session.
The DPR RI Plenary Meeting with the agenda of ratifying the Revision of the Regional Election Law (UU) into Law was canceled. The meeting was originally scheduled for 09.30 WIB, but was canceled after being suspended. Sufmi Dasco as the meeting leader gave the reason that there was no quorum.
The meeting was suspended and postponed for 30 minutes. However, after 30 minutes, the meeting participants had not fulfilled the requirements of the decision-making procedure. Therefore, Sufmi Dasco decided to postpone it.
Not only from academics, students, and even workers, a number of artists also came down to guard the Constitutional Court's decision. They were seen wearing black clothes, joining other masses who took part in the demonstration in front of the DPR building.
