According to local beliefs, one who wants to climb to Lempuyang Luhur should “cleanse†his heart and mind at the first place. Wearing gold as jewelry while visiting this temple is not allowed, as gold jewelries worn by visitors has been known to disappear mysteriously.

Lempuyang Luhur is divided into several sections, each located at a different height. In order to reach to its peak, you have to climb 1,750 steps the woods. From the lower part of the temple, you will be able to see the majestic Mount Agung clearly.
