TNI-AD Wins Big At International Shooting Competition In Australia

The Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) led by Lt. Col. Josep T. Sidabutar has successfully sealed its 10th consecutive victory at the Australian Army Skills at the Arms Meeting (AASAM) shooting competition in Australia.

Using the army's primary weapon such as SS-2V4 and G-2 pistol manufactured by state-owned artilery manufacturer PT Pindad, TNI-AD managed to collect 28 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 5 bronze medals of all categories contested.

Australian army on the other side secured the second place with 14 gold medals, followed by Japanese contingent with 10 gold medals.

Held at Puckapunyal Military Range, Victoria, Australia on May 5 to 26, 2017, the shooting contest was participated by armed forces from 20 countries, among others were Canada, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, France, United States, United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates.

In addition to the race team category, Second Sergeant Woli Hamsan from West Java 1st Kostrad Infantry Division, has also been awarded as the best shooter in the individual race category.

AASAM was first held in 1984 in Singleton, Australian Army Infantry Education Center. Some categories contested include, rifles, automatic rifles, pistols, and snipers.

TNI-AD firstly joined the competition in 1996 and has been unbeatable since 2008.
