TheCorruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Setya Novanto a suspect in the electronic identity card (e-KTP) graft case.
"KPK named SN, a House member for the 2009-2014 as the latest suspect in the case," said KPK Chief Agus Rahardjo in a press briefing at the KPK headquarter in Kuningan, Jakarta on Monday.
The decision was made after the anti-graft agency conducteda series of trial of the case involving two officials at Home Ministry, Irman and Sugiharto, as suspects.
"There's enough initial evidence for a naming of a new suspect," said Agus.
From the early stage of the trial, Novanto's name was mentioned by prosecutors in the indictment for Sugiharto and Irman. Novanto was saidto have been involved in the e-KTP graft case by encouraging the fractions in the House to support the project.
