Considering the recent headlines womens choices over wearing the garment have caused much debate, Anniesa Hasibuans collection made an ever greater impact. The groundbreaking showing concluded with a standing ovation, which are far and few between the prestigious fashion show.
"I believe fashion is one of the outlets in which we can start that cultural shift in today's society to normalize hijab in America so as to break down stereotypes and demystify misconceptions," she wrote on Instagram.
The line featured luxurious silks and delicate embroidery, layered tunics and flowing kimonos. The 30-year-old designer said on her Instagram page that her collection was inspired by her vibrant and colorful native Jakarta.
