Brilio.net - Spoons are one of the most frequently used cutlery . In addition to eating, spoons are also used to take and move food. After use, spoons become dirty and need to be cleaned immediately.

Even though they are cleaned frequently, spoons can still get stubborn stains, such as rust. Rust usually appears on spoons made of stainless steel or metal. This rust occurs because of food and water residue that sticks. If left and stored in a humid place, the food residue can turn into rust.

Rust on spoons is a stain that is difficult to remove. If left untreated, rust can spread and cover the entire surface of the spoon. Some people even choose to throw away rusty spoons because they are considered unusable.

However, instead of throwing it away, rust can be removed with various materials. Many people usually use vinegar and baking soda by soaking the spoon in the mixture for a few minutes. Although effective, the pungent smell of vinegar often lingers and is annoying. Therefore, many are looking for other alternatives, such as what Nurul Piqri did.

As reported by BrilioFood from YouTube Nurul Piqri on Friday (11/22), he admitted that he only used cooking oil . The process is also easier and faster than using vinegar or baking soda. You don't need to soak it in water or any liquid.

Now, for the method, prepare cooking oil that has been placed in a small container. Then take another spoon and dip the tip into the cooking oil. Use the tip of this spoon to rub the rust stains on the spoon.

Keep rubbing it periodically until the rust is lifted and washed away along with the oil. After rubbing, the rust stain will turn into a brown liquid. If so, immediately wipe the spoon using a dry cloth. The spoon will be clean again.

In addition to removing rust, cooking oil will also help prevent rust from appearing on spoons. This is because cooking oil will prevent direct contact between the surface of the spoon made of stainless or metal with oxygen and water. These two things are what cause spoons to rust easily.

However, for maximum results, it is better to coat the spoon with cooking oil periodically. Especially for spoons that are rarely used or often stored in the cupboard as stock. Coating it with cooking oil will make the spoon more durable, long-lasting, and not easy to rust. That way, you can use it at any time without worrying about rust getting dirty.
