Brilio.net - Ongklok noodles are one of the foods that must be eaten when visiting Wonosobo, Central Java. This culinary delights, which is considered an icon of the City Above the Clouds, has delicious flavors. One of its unique qualities also lies in its brown and thick sauce.

After investigating, the name ongklok comes from the tool used when boiling noodles which is made from woven bamboo. With this tool, the noodles are dipped into the broth several times until they are perfectly cooked.

In fact, there are many ongklok noodle sellers in every corner of Wonosobo City. However, one of the popular and legendary ongklok noodle stalls is on Jalan Troop Ronggolawe No. 14, Longkrang, East Wonosobo, Wonosobo District. This stall, called Mi Ongklok Longkrang, has been around since 1975.

This was explained by Mr. Waluyo, owner of the Ongklok Longkrang noodle stall.

I am the second generation to manage this stall. "From 1975, the shop has been located here until now," he explained when met by the brilio.net team at his shop on Saturday (11/5).

The key to the deliciousness of Longkrang ongklok noodles is the quality of the ingredients used.

Apart from being famous for its ongklok noodle menu, this stall also provides beef satay, tempe kemul, geblek, and various types of drinks.

Meanwhile, a portion of ongklok noodles contains yellow noodles, chopped cabbage, chives and thick sauce. According to Mr Waluyo, the dishes he sells are unique compared to other ongklok noodle stalls.

Here, there is additional soy sauce in the sauce. This is real soy sauce, we don't buy it on the market, we make it ourselves and don't sell it to the public. "So because of this ingredient, no one can match the taste of the noodles," he explained further.

This was apparently felt directly by a customer named Hisyam who had eaten Ongklok Longkrang noodles several times. According to him, the dishes at this stall have their own characteristics that are not available at other stalls.

"The taste of noodles, soup, even other condiments such as tempe kemul can only be found at that stall. At that time, the Longkrang ongklok noodle shop was closed and finally my friends and I looked for another ongklok noodle shop around that place. "However, in my opinion it doesn't taste any better than longkrang ongklok noodles and seems ordinary," explained the tall man.

It's not just the ongklok noodles that are special, the beef satay at this stall also tastes great to shake the tongue. The reason is, the satay spices are perfectly absorbed and the texture is not at all tough when bitten. The deliciousness of the beef satay was also acknowledged by a customer named Endah who came from Jakarta.

This is my first time here, and the turns out feel good. Especially the satay, yes. I honestly don't like meat satay, but this is soft so I like it. "If I go to Wonosobo again, I will come back here," he said.

Even though the owner, Mr. Waluyo, admitted that there was no exact measurement to use. He only relies on instinct when adding the ingredients used. Even so, the taste of the ongklok noodles and satay that is sold remains the same as when it was sold when this stall first opened .

This bowl of ongklok noodles is sold at a very cheap price, namely IDR 11,000. Meanwhile, the beef satay is sold at IDR 27,000 per portion. Because it's so delicious, this ongklok noodle shop seems busy with buyers. While selling from 09.00 WIB to 22.00 WIB, Mr Waluyo managed to sell around 1500-2000 bowls per day.

It has been visited by ministers and presidents.

Don't be surprised if you find this ongklok noodle shop looks small. There are only around 9 tables available in the shop which are equipped with long wooden chairs. Even so, visitors still come and go. Even several famous people, from artists, religious teachers, to state officials have tasted Mi Ongklok Longkrang directly, you know.

From the minister, Mr. SBY, Mr. Jokowi have all been here. "Once, representatives from 20 ASEAN countries all joined together to try ongklok noodles here," said Mr. Waluyo while mixing a bowl of ongklok noodles.

Even though his ongklok noodle shop is very busy, Pak Waluyo has no intention of opening a branch or making his shop bigger. According to him, this selling trick is a way to appreciate and share good fortune with other ongklok noodle stalls in Wonosobo City.

So, for those of you who are visiting or passing through Wonosobo City, don't forget to try this menu directly.
