No need to douse it in bleach, here's a trick for washing moldy pillows so they're white again using 3 kitchen ingredients

Don't just clean the pillowcase. Annathiqotul Laduniyah

Brilio.net - Pillows are items that are used every day. Therefore, pillows get dirty easily. Starting from dust, dirt from hair, to high humidity, it is one of the main causes of pillows becoming dirty. However, usually, quite a few people only clean their pillowcases, while the inside of the pillow is often neglected.

However, did you know that the inside of this pillow is also susceptible to stains , especially mold, you know. This often happens to pillows that have never been dried in the sun and are always damp. As a result, the bacteria that cause mold stains can spread and make the pillow even duller.

Unfortunately, just drying the pillow isn't enough to remove the mold stains. Pillows must be washed thoroughly to make them cleaner and whiter. So, one way you can do this is by pouring bleach onto the surface of the pillow, then rubbing it until it is clean.

Using bleach is basically very effective in removing mold stains. However, this can only be done on white pillows. Pillows with other patterns or colors tend to have the potential to fade and actually get dirtier if you douse them in bleach.

So to be safer, you can use a trick shared by Facebook user Fitri Rahmawati. Through one of the uploaded videos, he admitted that he only relied on three kitchen ingredients to wash moldy pillows so they were white again. As reported by BrilioFood from Fitri Rahmawati's Facebook account on Thursday (27/6), the kitchen ingredients used were salt, baking soda and table vinegar.

How to use it is quite easy. First of all, prepare a bucket and pour enough hot water. If so, add salt, vinegar and baking soda. Don't forget to also add dish soap to the bucket.

Next, stir all the ingredients until evenly mixed. Only then put in a dirty and moldy pillow. Press until the pillow is completely submerged. If necessary, add more vinegar to the surface of the pillow. After that, let it sit for approximately 1 hour.

When you have let it sit, lift the pillow. Then rub using a brush until it is really clean. As the mold stain starts to soften, the pillow will be easier to brush. Do this process until the pillow is clean and white again. Finally, rinse with water and dry until completely dry in the sun. Make sure the inside is also dry to minimize the growth of mold again.
