Brilio.net - A stone mortar is a kitchen tool that is often used in food processing. Even though nowadays there are many modern grinding or crushing machines, the existence of this stone mortar seems to be still maintained by most people. Some people believe that using a stone mortar can produce a better texture and taste in spices because the grinding process is more even and natural.

Even though it makes the spices more delicious, using a stone mortar also doesn't avoid various obstacles. Starting from a cracked mortar, a sandy surface, less efficient for grinding large amounts of food ingredients, to the growth of mold on the surface of the mortar.

This fungus usually arises because the remains of ground spices are still stuck to the surface of the mortar. After use, the mortar is not immediately cleaned, but instead just stored. As a result, the surface of the mortar is full of white or green spots called mold. Finally, a mortar cannot be used to grind food.

Usually people then soak it using salt and baking soda . However, if you don't have stock of salt and baking soda, don't worry. You just need to know the tricks for caring for stone mortars to prevent mold and keep them clean. This method was shared by Instagram user Anne Permata.

In his uploaded video, he gives a tutorial on how to wash a stone mortar so it doesn't get moldy easily. In the video, Anne shows her stone mortar whose surface is filled with white mold.

"This tip is for those of you who have washed the mortar, but the mortar still has white mold like this," he said, as reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @annepermata, Monday (01/04).

The first step to take is to prepare a container to fill with water. Then use the water to soak the mortar for 1.5 hours.

After soaking, remove and drain the stone mortar. Then wipe the stone mortar using a clean napkin. Wait a few moments until the entire surface of the mortar becomes slightly dry.

After that, prepare half a cup of rice, pour it in, and mash it until it is smooth and evenly distributed throughout the mortar. After that, reuse the container and place the mortar in it. Then rinse and soak the mortar in warm water.

"Well, if you lift it and drain it, here's the mortar, there won't be any more mold, it'll be shiny, right?" he concluded.

How about it, it's quite easy to put into practice, right? This video belonging to Instagram @annepermata immediately caught the attention of netizens. Since being uploaded in March, this video containing how to remove mold from stone mortars has been liked by more than 3700 accounts.
