Rano Karno , one of Marissa Haque's old friends, came to pay his respects at the funeral home after hearing the shocking news. They first met in the film world in 1980 in the film Kembang Semusim .
"I have known Mbak Icha since she was young and not yet married. We filmed in Sambas for about a month, far and long," recalled Rano, who is now running in the DKI gubernatorial election, Wednesday (2/10).
After the Indonesian film industry experienced a dark period, Rano Karno was more active in soap operas and produced Si Doel Anak Sekolahan . Meanwhile, Marissa Haque, who is married to Ikang Fawzi, focuses on the world of education and politics.
This made them rarely meet. Unfortunately, Marissa Haque died on October 2, 2024, without any prior warning.
"As a friend, I am quite close to Mbak Marissa. We haven't met for more than 15 years. She is more involved in the world of education, not in the world of entertainment, although she still appears occasionally," he said in an interview on YouTube Intens Investigasi.
Rano also added that Marissa was a person who loved to learn. This was proven by the late woman's brilliant career in education.
"If we look at his title, he loves to learn. He did not pursue a career in the arts, but in education. I heard that he still teaches at an educational institution in Kemang," he explained.
Rano Karno believes that fate, fortune, and death are in the hands of the Creator. He prays that Ikang Fawzi and his family will find fortitude amidst this grief.
Many were shocked to hear the news of Marissa Haque's death, considering that the day before she seemed healthy and active. "Yesterday she was still taking pictures, there were no signs of illness. Earlier I met Mbak Soraya, it turned out that last night Mas Ikang found her gone in her room," he said.
