Brilio.net/en - Crutch designs havent been changed much since its invention during the Civil War, which was 150 years ago. It functions as an additional leg with body weight placed on ones hands, wrists and armpits. A new group is redesigning the support equipment with a whole different system. Instead of putting pressure on armpits, the new design puts the body weight on elbows.
Named M+D Crutches, the innovation gives user a full control on the handles. If they dont want to use the handles, they can be rotated away. The cradles are hinged, so the user can reach higher while the arms are still attached to the crutch with flexible bands. The bottom of the feet is covered with interchangeable shock absorbent material that will also prevent slippage, so as to minimize the tension and pain to body.

The crutches are adjustable for users that are 47 (140 cm) to 68 (200 cm) tall and 300 lbs (136 kg) on weight. The well-thought new design came from a company from Kansas City, Mobility Designed, with designers Liliana Younger and Max Younger behind the design and entrepreneur Michael Litscher. The company is now preparing to produce their first crutches, as the prototype has been successfully working.
