Most of us simply feel the need to be listened to and indulge in a bit of a complaint session. We think that talking out everything thats negative will magically erase it and help us feel better. A scientific study says otherwise and warns against the main dangers of falling into perpetual complaining-state of mind.

On the contrary, while we complain our blood pressure increases which stresses us even more. However, complaining and whining can actually be helpful but it all depends on the causes: complaining about missing your train, being late at work, etc. are unhealthy reason and hopeless situations. It wont make you feel good to keep on thinking about a fact that you have no impact on anymore. It happened, let it go! On the other hand, scientists explain that in personal context, when ones sad after a breakup or simply after a fight with a friend, in that case the complaining phase is actually healthier: to speak up all thats left on your heart in those cases, will help you to move on.

2. It is highly contagious

Our brain, at least the emotional part of it, is like a sponge. Even if youre having an amazing day, spending too much time around someone complaining and sharing negative thoughts with you will leave you miserable in the end. The negativity of the others bleeds onto us. Think about it when youre complaining next time: instead of wasting time focusing on the negative, try to see the positive that happened in your day.

3. Negativity attracts negativity

Always seeing the negative sides of things is a vicious circle. People who fall into depression have actually lost any kind of positive thinking and are locked in their dark thoughts. The other negative sides attracted by complaining? A weakened immune system, a risk of increasing problems with memory, lack of concentration, and on a long term, an increased risk of obesity and heart diseases, gain weight, insomnia Maybe enough reasons to start looking at life through rose-tinted glasses!
