Brilio.net/en - Warner Bros and DC Comics announced on Saturday at the San Diego Comic-Con that a sequel to their sensational success "Wonder Woman" is on its way.
The announcement was not actually a surprise.
Warner Bros. executive told Variety last month that they were working on a sequel with Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins.
Jenkins herself has also hinted towards a possible plot she wants in the sequel during an interview with Entertainment Weekly in April.
"The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right. Shes Wonder Woman. Shes got to come to America. Its time, she said. "I made Wonder Woman. Now I want to make Wonder Woman 2. Its a beautiful story to tell, an important time to tell it and with people that I love."
"Wonder Woman" starring Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Robin Wright (General Antiope), and Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta) is the highest-grossing film in the DC Extended Universe, grossing more than $770 million worldwide and is tailing Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" for the summer's top grossing movie.
In addition, the studio also revealed plans for a possible standalone project starring Batgirl and a sequel to their antihero film "Suicide Squad".
The news of the sequel comes while Gal Gadot, along with the cast of "Justice League" are promoting a new full-length trailer for their film, which is due out November 17.
