Living in the metropolitan Jakarta can be exhausting and sometimes you just long for a quick escape from the hustle bustle. We gathered 20 tourism destinations around the capital that you can easily ride to. Either for a day trip or long weekend, these recreational spots are worth a visit!

1. Tanah Tingal

Located in Ciputat, South Tangerang, the nine-hectares land is one of the region's very few urban jungles. Since 1985, former Indonesias Minister of Information Boediarjo has planted more than 10,000 trees and crossbred them to fulfill the motto of Tanah Tingal: Conservation for the sake of living harmony. The area is also a center for education, trainings, outdoor-activities, workshops, as well as information center, collection house and sales for plants and nature. The complex facilities include swimming pool, meeting rooms, restaurant, orchid exhibition and a gallery of Boediarjos private photography collection. 2. Kandank Jurank Doank

Another educational place to go in Ciputat, South Tangerang, is Kandak Jurank Doank. Built by artist/celebrity Dik Doank in 1993, the free school is dedicated for poor children to boost their creativity. But not only for kids, the area is open for public too. In here, the lush green trees and rice fields become school walls.

You can do so many outdoor activities such as wall climbing, hiking, flying fox, football, basketball, and even plowing the field and fishing. The educational events involve singing, dancing, percussion play, drama play, and so on.

Following the motto of Live to Give, visitors can use all facilities such as multimedia room, playing room, and an open-space perform stage suitable for up to 300 persons. There are also a museum of Dik Doanks personal history and a cafetaria. You can even enroll your children to the program, or reserve the area for corporate outbound activityall free of charge! 3.Bogor Botanical Garden

Located in Bogor City in the south of Jakarta, the enormous garden has been a getaway destination since 1500s. The man-made forest is 87 hectares and has more than 15,000 plants in it. The whole complex contains a presidential palace, zoology museum, herbarium center, testing garden, chemistry lab, pharmacy lab, botanical lab, photography library, Taman Anggrek orchid glasshouse, Danau Gunting lake, old Dutch cemetery, Lady Raffles monument, Mexico Garden, Teijsman Garden and Monument, Sujana Kassan Garden, Astrid Garden, and Dedaunan restaurant. The gardens most famous plantis the rare Bunga Bangkai (Amorphophalus titanum), the parasite giant flower Rafflesia Arnoldii, and Southeast Asias oldest Palm Oil tree. You can also find the brown, gentle reindeers (axis deer) wandering on the palaces yard. The entrance ticket is Rp 25,000 per person, and its open everyday.

4. The Jungle Waterpark

If you are still in Bogor, come visit The Jungle in Bogor Nirwana Residence. The 3.6 hectares land is a fun place for family vacation with its kiddy pool, long and curvy slides, leisure pool, wave pool, lazy river, fountain futsal area, non-water playing area, cabana huts, 4D cinema, ghost house, snow house, paintball, go-kart, flying fox, bird park, restaurant, rest area, and souvenir shop. 5. Situ Gede

Situ Gede is a Sundanese term for Big Lake. The lake is part of Hutan Dramaga, a forest as big as 6 hectares located 10 kilometers away from the center of Bogor city. People visit Situ Gede for afternoon walk, fish, sail on boat, or picnic with their family. The lake is also part of bigger lake system that includes other lakes nearby: Situ Leutik (no longer exists), Situ Panjang and Situ Burung. There are also research centers built not far from Situ Gede, such as Center for International Forestry Research (CIFAR), The World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF), Climatology Station (BMKG Dramaga) and the Bogor Farming Institute (IPB) Dramaga campus.
