Brilio.net/en - The president of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, on Friday (5/12), informed that searchers have found the wreck of Spanish ship which was sunk off the Cartagena coast 300 years ago. This ship is supposed to have brought a cargo of jewels, gold and silver coins.

As quoted from the Daily Mail, Friday (5/12), the ship that was named San Jose was sunk in 1708 in the Caribbean ocean, near the Cartagena port.

The wreck of the ship was found close to the Rosario Island, the coast of Baru.

Great news: we have found the San Jose Galeon! Tomorrow, I will give details at the press conference from Cartagena, Santos informed from his twitter account.

However, the government of Colombia has been in dispute with Sea Search Armada (SSA), a U.S company related to the ownership of the wreck.

In 1981, SSA said that they have found the location of the wreck. SSA and the government work in partnership and agreed to divide the result.

Later, the government stated that the treasure found in the wreck should belong to Colombia.
