Brilio.net/en - Quick counts are in and Anies Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno have won the Jakarta runoff election. Official results are expected on April 29.
Anies Baswedan declared that the victory was a beginning of a campaign to build the capital as he committed to not only maintaining the diversity, but also building unity in a Jakarta that has seen bitter divisions in a highly-charged campaign tinged with accusations of religious intolerance and outright prejudice - accusations often targeting Anies himself, who some say has played on these tensions to help his campaign
"The journey is still far from the end. Our endeavor is not just to win the election. The true effort is to bring justice to Jakarta people," said Anies.
Running mate Sandi added that they would invite Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat to work with them to help with unifying and building Jakarta.
"The first thing to be done is to build communication with Pak Basuki and Pak Djarot. We are all allies. Jakarta unites as one. We forget everything in the past, we will straighten Jakarta for the next five years," Sandiaga Sandi said.
