Following the success of the Toy Like Me campaign, Makies took it into mass production and released a new line of dolls, giving it the same name.

The dolls which were created using 3D-printing come with accessories such as hearing aids, walking canes, and even facial birth marks. Makies also plans to continue expanding to include wheelchairs in the near future.

Parents of children with disabilities have been pleading with the toy manufacturers to create dolls that their kids can relate to.

Toy Like Me campaigner Rebecca Atkinson said it was affirming for children to see toys that look just like them. They feel empowered and it opens up new possibilities for them to know that they are accepted and normal.

"We would like to see disability taken out of the hospital. And into a more fun setting," she said.

This is a great step towards social inclusivity that celebrates real beauty in many forms.
