After reaching more than 4 million viewers in just two weeks in Indonesia, the film Sugar Factory directed by Awi Suryadi is now ready to enter the overseas market, especially the United States.

MD Pictures producer Manoj Punjabi announced that the film, starring Arbani Yasiz and Erika Carlina, will open in 14 theaters across the US starting April 18, 2025.

Before its US release, Sugar Factory had already been a success in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, where it managed to earn more than 1 million Malaysian ringgit in just four days.

"This film will be shown in the US starting April 18, 2025 and is ready to terrorize audiences in 14 cinemas spread across Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Seattle, Vista, and Tulsa," explained Manoj Punjabi.

In his written statement, Manoj Punjabi also revealed that Sugar Factory had held a gala premiere in Los Angeles on March 26, 2025. Several big names in Hollywood such as Sebastien Roche, Tara Reid, and The Conjuring scriptwriter, Carey W. Hayes, were present to give their appreciation for the quality of this film.

"Sugar Factory is so impressive! I told Lele Leila that it's a great combination of horror, comedy, love, and friendship... You won't get bored," said Carey W. Hayes.

The film tells the story of a group of villagers who struggle to support themselves by becoming seasonal laborers. Their duties range from harvesting sugar cane, grinding it, to producing granulated sugar.

The main characters in this film are Fadhil (Arbani Yasiz), Endah (Ersya Aurelia), Naning (Erika Carlina), Hendra (Bukie Mansyur), Wati (Wavi Zihan), Dwi (Arif Alfiansyah), and Franky (Benidictus Siregar). They are accepted as seasonal workers in a sugar factory and live in the provided dormitory.

There are some strict rules that must be followed while working. First, at the yellow hour (before Maghrib), they must stop working and return to the dormitory. Second, at the red hour, which is 21.00, workers are strictly prohibited from leaving the dormitory. Unfortunately, this rule has been violated since the first day of work.
