Papua Governor Lukas Enembe is allegedly involved in a corruption case related to scholarship for Papuan university students.

Lukas was supposed to give explanation to the police on Tuesday, but he did not show up.

[He] was not present. Yesterday, we checked it at Papua provincial governor office, but he was not there, The National Polices Criminal Investigation Department Corruption Crimes Deputy Director Sr. Commr. Erwanto Kurniadi confirmed.

There is no report regarding where Lukas is until now.

Police is going to investigate Lukas sfor his alleged involvement in a corruption case where the scholarship fund intended for Papuan university students in 2016 was not used for its purpose.

The invitation for investigation letter was reportedly sent to Lukas on Aug. 18 in which he was supposed to come at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, but there has to be any news from him yet.

Lukas Enembe is the current governor for Papua since 2013.

He recently claimed he will win the upcoming Papua Governor Election in 2018 after getting supports from National Mandate Party (PAN), Indonesian Justice and Unity Party (PKPI), Nasdem, Golkar, Peoples Conscience Party (Hanura), Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), National Awakening Party (PKB), United Development Party (PPP) and Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra).
