  • 1 cup (230 gr) whole almond (or you may use almond flour, can be bought at online stores in Indonesia)
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 4-5 cups of water
  • 2-3 dates (any kind), pitted
  • 1/2 part of vanilla bean, or 1 teaspoon of vanilli (optional)
  • You will need: a blender, a thin cotton cloth, a wire mesh strainer.

Preparation (no need if using almond flour):

When using whole almonds (this will take longer) first soak the almonds in boiling water for 10 minutes, strain and place in a bowl of ice water. Peel the skins from the almonds individually and then process with water.

How to make almond milk:

  1. Drop almonds/almond flour, salt, pitted dates, and vanilla bean/vanilli into the blenders jug.

  2. Add 4 cups of water then turn the blender on.
  3. Allow the blender to run for a 3-4 minutes to make sure the dates and vanilla bean and ground down and mixed in well.
  4. Add the remaining cup of water with the blender on low speed.
  5. Prepare wire mesh strainer in an empty jug/glass, line it with damped cotton cloth.
  6. Pour the milk into the lined strainer.

  7. Gather up the cloth, twist and gently squeeze to release as much of the milk as possible.
